Sauteed Kohlrabi

  

Ingredients:


4 small kohlrabi, peeled and trimmed of leaves
1 teaspoon salt
1 medium onion, sliced
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 teaspoon dried basil leaves, crushed or 1 tablespoon fresh basil leaves, chopped

Instructions:

Yield 2 servings

  1. Grate the kohlrabi and place in a colander. Sprinkle with salt and let stand for 30 minutes, then squeeze the water out.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter or margarine. Brown the onions and stir in kohlrabi. Turn heat to low, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Uncover and turn the heat to medium. Cook another 2 minutes. Sprinkle with basil.
