Whole Baked Apples




4 large apples
2 to 3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup hot water
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 teaspoons butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Remove 1/2-inch slice from the top of each apple. Using a large spoon, remove all but 1/2 inch of the core. Place cored apples in lemon water. Combine oats, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Stir in butter until mixed. Combine honey and hot water. Brush apples with honey and water. Fill apples with oat mixture. In a baking dish, arrange apples and cover with foil. Bake 40 minutes. Remove foil and top with brown sugar and honey. Continue baking for 10 to 15 minutes or until apples are tender.
