Description: Cantaloupe is a source of vitamins A and C, which are antioxidants that may reduce your risk of heart disease and certain cancers. Vitamin A helps maintain eye health. Vitamin C helps protect skin from bruising, helps heal cuts and keeps gums healthy, and boosts the absorption iron. Cantaloupe also provides potassium and fiber. Potassium helps maintain healthy blood pressure, and fiber helps control cholesterol and keeps you regular.

Selection: Choose firm melons with no soft spots. Cantaloupe should have a sweet smell where the fruit separates from the stem of the vine.
Storing: Ripened melons in the refrigerator and use within 3 to 5 days.
Preparation: Wash the outside of the melon, slice and remove seeds from center of melon.
Serving: Cantaloupe is good raw or mixed with other fruits.
