Nectarines

Season: June to September

Description: Nectarines provide vitamin C and vitamin A, which are antioxidants that may reduce your risk of heart disease and certain cancers. Vitamin A helps maintain eye health. Vitamin C helps protect skin from bruising, helps heal cuts and keeps gums healthy. Eating foods with vitamin C helps the body absorb iron. Nectarines also provide potassium and fiber. Potassium helps maintain healthy blood pressure, and fiber helps control cholesterol and keeps you regular.

Selection: Firm nectarines with smooth skin.

Storing: Store unripe nectarines in brown paper bag until ripe. Once ripe, store at room temperature for 2-3 days.
