Description: Celery provides vitamin A and C, which are antioxidants that may reduce your risk of heart disease and certain cancers. Vitamin A helps maintain eye health. Vitamin C helps protect skin from bruising, helps heal cuts and keeps gums healthy, boosts iron absorption. Celery also provides vitamin K, potassium, fiber and folate. Vitamin K helps build and maintain strong bones, potassium helps maintain healthy blood pressure, and fiber helps control cholesterol and keeps bowel movements regular. Folate may reduce your risk of heart disease. Eating foods with folate before pregnancy helps lower the risk of delivering a baby with neural tube defects.

Selection: Choose rigid, straight celery stalks with fresh leaves. Avoid choosing celery that is wilted, soft and limp. Celery should smell fresh.

Storing: Can be stored in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to one week.
